Mountain Hardwear’s fantastic French ‘skyliners’ were on the island of Orkney to demonstrate their fearless prowess for jaw-dropping suspended stunts in mid-air over the powerful currents of the North Sea.

Orkney’s strong sea tides, 400m sea cliffs and beautiful sea stacks created the perfect environment for the Skyliners’ awe-inspiring stunts.

Based in Stromness Harbour; Sebastian Brugalla, Trancrede Melet, Julien Millot, Antonie Moineville and Rodolophe Rolen, accompanied by award-winning documentary maker, Seb Montaz, base jumped from St John’s cliff, the Man of Hoy and teetered on a high-line between North Gaulton and Yesnaby sea stacks.

With over four million hits of Seb Montaz’s ‘I believe I Can Fly’, Outdoor Film Tour award- winning documentary, the Skyliners brought their unique stunts to the UK for the first time over four days in an incredibly spectacular weekend adventure.

Melet, who is sponsored by outdoor apparel experts, Mountain Hardwear, said of the location and trip; “We were incredibly excited for our first group trip to the UK to try out our mix of high-line and base jumping on Orkney. The remote beauty of the islands made it the perfect destination and we definitely pushed ourselves to attempt jumps and lines which have never been seen before.

“We used a mixture of paragliding, speed riding, kite riding, spear fishing and circus gear, to help create our craziness during our Orkney adventures - it’s even more beautiful a place in real life than the pictures I researched gave it credit for!”

Cartwheeling off crags and jumping into the abyss between mountains, the skyliners have toured the world making captivating footage and carrying out stunts never before seen by anyone on earth. From backflipping over the waters in Norway, suspending themselves at nail-bitingly high altitudes over Chamonix’s Mont-Blanc and spanning the Parisian skyline hundreds of feet up on nothing but a highline, to watch the skyliner’s unique combination of highline and base jumping is to live it - with your heart in your mouth!

Now one daredevil Brit is being sought to join Mountain Hardwear's team of sponsored athletes on a once in a lifetime training camp on Mount Blanc, Chamonix in June. As part of the brand's commitment to grassroots extreme sports, its Mountain Academy sees the best young (18-35) mountaineers from across Europe come together in an all expenses paid training camp, taking on Europe's most famous mountaineering obstacles.
