Setting the mood in your home for a romantic night in

2nd July 2012 Print

Setting the scene for a romantic night in is not as difficult as it might first seem. After the cares of the day, what could be better than for your other half to come home to a home full of soft music and candlelight? You're trying to create an air of romance so you need to make an early start. A home needs to be a place of sanctuary, relaxation and enjoyment so here are some tips on how to create a romantic night in for your significant other.

Choose a Room

First of all, decide which room you will be spending your romantic night in. Then clear away any clutter from your lounge furniture or from any conservatory furniture. There's nothing more unromantic than staring at a pile of unpaid bills, old newspapers and junk mail. Tables and chairs need to be free of all this junk so, if you have to, just put it all in a drawer for the time being. Later, you can visit http://www.2furnish.co.uk for some ideas on how to furnish a room simply and elegantly.

When it comes to a romantic night in, all the stresses of the day need to be put to one side. Everyone has things going on in their lives that worry them or makes them irritable. But tonight all these need to be forgotten as romance is the name of the game.

Add Mood Lighting

Candlelight or soft lamplight can be very romantic. Combined with soft music playing on the radio or on a hi-fi system, this is certain to lift anyone's mood. Music has been used to charge the emotions throughout the centuries and today is no exception. When it comes to romance, there are quite literally thousands of songs on the subject.

Plan a Meal

As part of your romantic night in, you may be cooking a special meal. This is not the time to try something new as you need to be sure you're going to get it right. So choose something tried and tested that you've done before and which you know your partner will enjoy. Don't make it too stodgy as you don't want him or her to fall asleep immediately after the meal. And even though wine is probably on the menu, don't overdo it.

Have a good look at your furniture. Maybe it's time to change something. Rattan furniture is perfect for adding romance and rusticity to a room, but for tonight you're stuck with the furniture you already have. So it's time to plump up the cushions, tidy up any throws and maybe even move furniture around to create a different atmosphere. Conservatory furniture can make a difference to a home as well and on a summer's evening a conservatory can be a very romantic place to dine and relax.
