With the summer holidays almost here and summer sunshine still looking variable you’ll want to be sure that at least some days are planned to give your kids something different and exciting to do whatever the weather.

But it’s not just about having fun, learning a new skill helps to boost children’s confidence and encourage a ‘can-do’ attitude - especially relevant for children who are slightly anxious about moving up to a new school.

Lessons in skiing and snowboarding at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead are delivered by some of the best qualified snowsports instructors this side of the Alps. Lessons range from children as young as four (for skiing) and seven (for snowboarding) and are delivered in small groups to make sure everyone gets plenty of attention. For four year olds the maximum class size is just four children.

The aim is to make sure the lessons are fun and positive, encouraging all participating children to progress and reach their potential without pressure. The results are impressive with youngsters quickly mastering control on the slopes and enjoying the thrill of real snow activities.

Choose two or four day courses, with prices starting at just £40 for two one hour lessons for 4-6 year olds – rising to £120 for a four day course (four two hour lessons) for older children. For youngsters who are already proficient on the snow, The Snow Centre offers Freestyle courses to expand their abilities, giving them the confidence to take their ski and snowboarding skills to another level.
