Following several months of major refurbishment work, the historic Ashley House, opens its doors to guests this week as a boutique Bed and Breakfast; giving visitors to the popular market town a new and luxurious place to stay.

Ashley House, which is located in the heart of South Molton on pretty Paradise Lawn, is one of the area’s most famous houses. This former gentlemen’s residence was built in 1879 and was made famous when it was bought by two brothers, John Tucker Widgery and Samuel Widgery after they had contested the will of the famous artist J.M.W Turner.

In later years, Lord Samuel Widgery, the Lord Chief Justice of England from 1971-1980, was born at Ashley house in 1911 and an official Blue Plaque commemorates this event.

Ashley House Bed and Breakfast, offers guests a choice of three luxury en-suite bedrooms, each with its own distinctive style, furnished with an elegant blend of antique and contemporary pieces complimented with breathtaking artwork of the surrounding area.

Throughout the house, guests will find stunning and original images of North Devon, taken by local professional photographer; Andrew Wheatley.

Nicky Robbins, owner of Ashley house strives to provide guests with the best start to their morning offering breakfast made with the freshest produce, sourced from local shops and eggs from Ashley House’s flock of resident chickens.

It is not only the food that is locally sourced, Robbins has searched the Devon countryside choosing only the finest local goods from toiletries to teabags to use in Ashley House, sharing the delights of Devon with guests.

Robbins, comments; “We are overjoyed to announce the opening of Ashley House Bed and Breakfast and look forward to welcoming our first guests. We have spent several months bringing the house back to its former glory and are thrilled with the results. From artwork in the rooms, to the sausages on the breakfast plate, we are proud to support local business and endeavor to keep everything in the house locally sourced, offering guests a true country break.”
