Privilege offers alternative for families feeling the squeeze
Car accidents are stressful enough without finding yourself off the road while your vehicle is being repaired – or, almost as bad, temporarily forced to squeeze your family into a much smaller model. That’s why car insurer Privilege is upgrading the hire car it provides to customers when their own vehicle is off the road. Policyholders opting for Privilege’s Guaranteed Hire Car option when they take out their insurance will now be given a family-sized ‘Class D’ car instead of smaller models such as the Fiat Seicento or Daewoo Matiz.
All Privilege customers with comprehensive car insurance are already entitled to a courtesy car while their own is being repaired by an approved repairer – the Guaranteed Hire Car option extends this to cover theft or a write-off, providing customers with the use of a VW Golf (or similar) for up to 14 days if their own vehicle is unusable because of a claim – whatever the circumstances. And Privilege will deliver the car to the customer, then pick it up when it is no longer needed.
Ian Parker, Managing Director of Privilege Insurance commented: "For some customers, a small courtesy car is all that is required. But for most, whether they need the space for the school run, suitcases or a set of golf clubs, the extra room in a family-sized replacement could make their own car being off the road a little less inconvenient. We’ve added this option so customers can decide what best suits their needs."
Guaranteed Hire Car costs an additional £25.20 and is available as an optional extra to all Privilege car insurance customers.
