A good move
When Stuart and Margaret Painter, who lived near Croydon, decided to move to the coast to have the lifestyle they longed for, Cooden near Bexhill-on-Sea seemed the obvious choice.
The couple became fond of the area when they visited their long-standing friends who had purchased a newly-built property near to the golf club in Cooden. “We were instantly impressed with the area, so it seemed natural for us to move down there, particularly since we had friends in the area,” Stuart explains. “We also wanted to buy a new home. We have had the experience of a new-build home in Switzerland and definitely prefer them for the lifestyle they offer. There are enormous benefits, particularly the low maintenance and energy efficiency, which is very important nowadays.”
During their house hunt, friends and locals in the area told Stuart and Margaret about Cooden Place, a unique development consisting of just seven spacious detached homes by award-winning housebuilder Millwood Designer Homes.
“We were actually looking at another new-build house nearby when we heard about Cooden Place. It sounded perfect,” says Stuart, “so we decided to take a look so as initially to make a comparison. We had never heard of Millwood before but our friends had. Millwood has a very good reputation for building quality homes, and when we visited Cooden Place it was easy to see why. It was immediately obvious that the quality is much better than other new builds we looked at, and we preferred the design as well.”
Stuart continues: “The layout of the development and the general designs of the homes are excellent. We were torn between two houses but ended up going for the show home. We were very impressed with the quality and finish, and the fact that it came with all the fittings and fixtures was an added bonus. The show home had been very tastefully finished and came complete with carpets, curtains, audio equipment and landscaped gardens, so we were happy that we could move straight in without needing to do anything.
“The customer service has been magnificent and Millwood also offers a two-year after-care service. The attitude of both the site manager and everyone else from Millwood we have dealt with has been fantastic. Without a doubt we would recommend the company in the future. For now though, we are happy enjoying our new life by the sea with good friends.”
Cooden Place is an award-winning development. Site Manager, Robert Baldock, not only won an NHBC Pride in the Job Award last year for his work at the development, but also beat other site managers to win a Seal of Excellence. Millwood then went on to win the title of Best Small Builder for Cooden Place, and if that wasn’t enough, it also won the award for Best Small Housing Development at the recent LABC Building Excellence Awards.
Cooden Place is now sold out but due to the huge success of the development, Millwood is looking for more land in the area.
