The inaugural Wild About Food weekend in Scotland’s Wester Ross (28th September-1st October) features a mouth-watering line up of events including foraging outings in the local woodlands, deer stalking with a camera and island boat trips including barbeque lunch.

The festival will centre on a produce market with a wild food theme, and a series of demonstrations and workshops from cake decorating for kids to a venison masterclass. Restaurants will be putting on special menus and gourmet dinners will make a feature of the rich produce of the region. A selection of home brewed ales will ensure that visitors to the festival are kept well watered too.

Wester Ross in north-west Scotland attracts many creative craftsfolk, artists and photographers due to its inspiring surroundings and, when it comes to landscape, the area does not do understatement. Choose from stunning loch and mountain scenery, white sandy beaches, abundant and exclusive wildlife and plenty of wild open spaces and enjoy a range of activities in the area from glass bottomed boat trips, whale watching and sea kayaking to bird watching, hill walking and cycling.

Details of the area and the programme for the Wild About Food weekend, with regular updates, can be found at wildaboutgairloch.co.uk, along with booking details for events and advice on accommodation.
