Environ Cool Peel - New treatment to restore healthy-looking skin

Environ Skin Care is introducing a new approach to professional and home peeling with the ground-breaking Cool Peel, which rejuvenates skin while caring for the epidermis. Unlike more aggressive peels which destroy important skin cells, the new protocol, developed by plastic surgeon and anti-ageing specialist Dr Des Fernandes, helps to stimulate healthy growth, with light, repetitive treatments.

A low concentration acid masque left on the skin for sufficient time has been shown to address lines, sun damage and problem skin effectively and comfortably. This achieves visibly smoother skin with minimal redness and no recovery time.

The one hour Cool Peel salon treatment is recommended as a course of six, taken once weekly. The individually tailored treatment involves applying one or more layers of lactic acid cream masque (LACM2) which is left on the skin for 10 to 20 minutes. The treatment finishes with the application of a soothing, alginate masque through which a galvanic current is pulsed. This step aids the absorption of a vitamin A based gel which helps speed up the growth of epidermal cells, and leaves the skin feeling cool and looking refreshed.

Salon clients can also buy the complementary LACM Home Peel Kit, which enables them to continue to achieve results gradually and safely at home. The kit includes sufficient low concentration LACM1 masque for four to five treatments, plus a neutralising cleanser, brush, palette and headband. Frequent treatments are particularly important for clients with problem skin, to keep it sterile and clear. They are encouraged to use the peel daily or every second day for up to three months. Those who have rough textured or lined skin may use the kit once weekly as an occasional home treatment.

Dr Fernandes believes that rather than stripping away vital layers this new approach is a far better way to achieve smoother, healthier skin. “By using selected, less aggressive acids that function just at the surface and cause only mild exfoliation the treatment time can be extended. This causes a pH change in the epidermis that stimulates the keratinocytes to release various growth factors that create more youthful looking skin.“

The Cool Peel professional treatment is charged from £390 for a course of six salon treatments. The LACM Home Peel Kit retails for £79.95. The treatments and kit will be offered by selected beauty therapy centres from October and will then be launched nationally from January 2013.
