Avoid energy price rises with EDF Energy's Blue +Price Promise

7th September 2012 Print

Households across the country could protect themselves against energy price increases for the next two winters and benefit from one of the cheapest dual fuel deals in Britain by switching to EDF Energy's Blue +Price Promise April 2014.

Blue +Price Promise also comes with no termination fees meaning customers can leave for free if they find a better deal at any point.

The tariff is fixed until April 2014 giving customers worried about their energy bills the peace of mind of knowing they are protected from any increases. EDF Energy will also tell customers if a rival supplier brings out a tariff which could save them £52 a year or more at typical consumption.

Based on a national average of regional prices at typical consumption, SSE dual fuel standard tariff customers paying by direct debit who switch to Blue +Price Promise April 2014 could save over £200 a year once the company's 9% price increase takes effect on October 15. On the same basis, Blue +Price Promise April 2014 costs customers £1,058 a year. SSE's standard prices are currently £1,172 using the same customer criteria, rising to £1,274 a year with its new prices.

Martin Lawrence, managing director of energy sourcing and customer supply, said: "Many people will be worried about what will happen to their energy bills this winter following SSE's decision to increase its prices.

"By switching to our Blue +Price Promise April 2014 they not only protect themselves from any price increases for the next two winters but can also take advantage of some of the cheapest prices on the market.

"There are no exit fees so people can leave for free at anytime if they find a better deal. It's a win-win for consumers."

Since the launch of the tariff in April hundreds of thousands of people have signed up to Blue +Price Promise.  Blue +Price Promise April 2014 is open to both new and existing EDF Energy customers.

EDF Energy also has the cheapest standard prices amongst the major suppliers and has done for 45 of the previous 52 weeks based on a nationalised average of regional prices for customers paying by direct debit at typical consumption.
