Summer is well and truly over and yet again it’s time to dust the cobwebs off our skis and start dreaming of the snow-capped pistes. Whether you’re a relaxed skier or an adrenaline junky hitting the slopes each winter gives us all a certain rush. With the season looming closer and closer we decided to look at 5 of the best destinations the world has to offer this year for skiers. Best Destination for Families - Big White Canada

Big White is a gigantic resort but it’s by far the best for families thanks to the incredible facilities on offer and the incredible range of slopes. It’s got something to suit all levels of ability, a vast array of schools, crèches, nurseries, baby sitters and a fantastic apres ski scene. There are incredible slopes on offer and the area is exceptionally beautiful. The activities on offer for families are brilliant from ice skating, snowmobiling and snow tubing to late night skiing and discos!

Best Destination for Adrenaline Junkies - Jackson Hole Wyoming

Aside from heli-skiing adventures and literally untapped, untouched mountains no ski destination can beat Jackson Hole in Wyoming for expert skiers wanting to absolutely push their limits. The most challenging place to head is for the Steep and Deep camp that will challenge every fibre of your being.  There are incredible bowls like Cody to explore, the 20 foot drop of Corbett’s Couloir and the most aggressive exciting off-piste terrain in the world. Best Destination for Couples - Aspen Clorado

Aspen has a well-deserved reputation as the most luxurious destination for skiing in the world and it is still the winter destination for the rich and famous. It’s also incredibly romantic for couples with beautiful log cabins, spas, opulent private chalets and world famous restaurants and bars. As a romantic destination you can’t get better; though the prices are high. In terms of skiing it’s incredible with beautiful slopes catering perfectly to a relaxed and romantic holiday.

Best Destination for Beginners - Tignes France

Tignes is one of the best places to ski in France and the perfect place to learn for all ages. For children the nursery slopes are perfect and the ski schools are amongst the best in the world. Tignes also boasts single sex classes  and a fantastic array of facilities which makes it a very comfortable place to try your hand for the first time. The après ski scene is fun but not too hectic and there are a lot of families here and family friendly après ski activities. This is an incredible destination for beginners and a lot of fun for learners.

Best Destination for a Budget Getaway - Bansko Bulgaria

Bansko is the best skiing destination in Bulgaria bar none. Bulgaria has rapidly risen to the pinnacle of budget skiing holidays thanks to incredible low prices for flights, accommodation and living costs. Bansko has a fantastically long skiing season running from early December to early May and fantastic facilities. There are miles of off piste to explore and fantastic modern lifts as well as well-groomed slopes catering to all levels and ranges. The après ski scene is fantastic and the atmosphere energetic to say the least.
