Motoring writers in the pink for charity

Motoring writers in the pink for charity A group of brave motoring journalists road tested the new Nissan Micra C+C between November and the end of January 2006. What’s brave or unusual about that you may ask? Well, the Micra C+Cs in question were pink and they were all raising money for Nissan’s charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Nissan recently embarked on a tour of cities around the UK to launch the Micra C+C and Breakthrough’s TLC – Touch, Look, Check – campaign. Specially painted pink Micra C+Cs toured the city centres handing out leaflets detailing the TLC campaign and inviting shoppers to enter a Text to Win competition, the prize being a Pink C+C.

Nissan’s press team decided to get in on the act and wrapped four Micra C+Cs in pink and invited journalists to drive them and add to the charity pot. For every 250 miles covered, Nissan donated £250. For those not lucky (or lucky!) enough to bag one of the pink ones, Nissan also donated £10 for each traditionally coloured C+C booked for a road test.

A total of £8000 was raised – congratulations! But that wasn’t enough for some journalists – many shook their collecting tins at friends, family members and colleagues and raised some extra funds. A special mention must go to Richard Tuckwell from Topgayer.com who covered a total of 1400 miles in just 3 days – well done Richard.
