No job too small for Zircotec

Demonstrating that managing heat is child’s play for its range of coatings, a half scale Lotus Seven will be on Zircotec’s stand at the NEC Classic Motor Show (November 16th-18th). The 160cc, 25mph, Sonic Seven’s exhaust is just 35cm long and is coated with ThermoHold, a ceramic based coating that is normally used on classic road and race cars as an effective way of managing heat.
“It’s not often we do things in half measures,” says Zircotec’s managing director Terry Graham “This time though it was appropriate. The owner’s son has burnt his leg on the exhaust of a real Caterham and was keen for there not to be a repeat with the half scale one. Our coating can reduce surface temperatures by over 30 per cent when the engine is running and allows temperatures to fall quickly when the engine is turned off, reducing the risk of burns occurring.”
Alongside the Sonic Seven, Zircotec will be displaying its full range of coatings and heatshield products for the classic market. In contrast to the car, it will for the first time, showing full sized samples of its entire Performance Colours range including all of the coatings usually seen on classic car exhaust manifolds.
