‘Outstanding’ Renault Premium Lander sets new standard for PJ Webb
South Wales based aggregate haulage company, PJ Webb Haulage Ltd., has taken delivery of its first Renault truck, a new 8x4 Renault Premium Lander 460, with Optidriver gearbox. The outstanding performance of the vehicle, supplied through Renault Trucks Cardiff, has seen PJ Webb Haulage order a second Lander for delivery later this year.
The Renault Lander, with tipper body, will join the company’s 7-strong mixed fleet, transporting crushed rock, sand and gravel for leading aggregate suppliers, such as Hanson, Cemex and Tarmac. It will operate across South Wales, predominantly in the Rhondda Valley.
Phil Webb, Owner, PJ Webb Haulage Ltd., says: “We were initially attracted to Renault because of the optional five year warranty. After trialling a demo vehicle, however, we found that the quality and performance of the Renault Lander was outstanding - far better than any of the other trucks on our fleet - I can’t fault it!”
“The truck is well suited to our area of operation in the steep hills and valleys of the Rhondda as the engine is powerful but economical; fuel consumption on a stop-start basis is running at between 7 and 8mpg, about 1mpg better than other trucks on the fleet. Traction and suspension are also good and the Lander’s tight turning circle means excellent manoeuvrability on site.”
He continues: “Particularly impressive, however, has been the Optidriver automatic gearbox which, unlike other marques on our fleet, gives a smooth gear change, easily selecting the right gear first time.“
“I think it’s safe to say that we have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Renault Lander. Not only have we placed a second order but I have recommended it to a fellow operator who has since ordered two of the trucks himself!”
Based in Llantrisant, South Wales, PJ Webb Haulage Ltd. was established in 2003 with one new truck. The company has now grown to encompass a fleet of seven trucks, operating for major suppliers of heavy building materials to the construction industry, including Hanson, Cemex and Tarmac.
