Act quickly to buy a house for 80% of the price at Dee Park, Reading

If you’re looking for a house in the Reading area, offers don’t come much better than this. Selected new two-bedroom houses at Dee Park in Reading are being offered under the government backed scheme FirstBuy, which allows buyers to pay just 80 per cent of the purchase price, including a five per cent deposit, and receive an interest-free loan for the balance.

The homes are provided by Dee Park Partnership, a joint venture between Willmott Dixon and Catalyst Housing, in partnership with Reading Borough Council. The partnership is transforming Dee Park with new houses, improved roads and surroundings, and new community facilities.

With FirstBuy, buyers pay a five per cent deposit and raise a mortgage for 75 per cent of the property price; but they still own 100 per cent of their home. The remaining 20 per cent is provided as an equity loan from Catalyst Housing and the Homes and Communities Agency, and is interest and repayment free for the first five years. To be eligible, purchasers must have a household income of less than £60,000.

Sue Gresswell, sales & marketing Director for Willmott Dixon, comments: “Homes at Dee Park are already the best value in the Reading area and our two-bedroom houses start at just £179,995. Mortgage lenders usually require much higher deposits, but with a FirstBuy home buyers need a deposit of less than £9,000. Mortgage payments will be lower too. This is a fantastic deal and there’s huge interest in these homes, so I’d advise anyone interested to drop in and see us very soon.”

The new houses are at Iona Mews on Tay Road, on the west side of the Dee Park estate.

The homes are light and airy, with exceptionally large windows and higher than usual ceilings. A large open-plan living area opens through double glass doors on to a patio, and garden beyond. The two bedrooms are both good sized doubles, which is ideal for friends sharing. Built for energy efficiency and very warm, the homes even have solar roof panels to generate free electricity.

Dee Park is just three miles from Reading town centre and has excellent transport connections. There is a regular bus service to the town centre and from Reading station trains take around 26 minutes to reach London Paddington. Nearby Tilehurst has a good selection of everyday shops and Reading’s largest park, Prospect Park, is a short walk away.

Prices of the two-bedroom houses start at £179,995 and include carpets, flooring and kitchen appliances. With many of the new homes approaching completion, buyers who act quickly could even move in by Christmas. Also for sale at Dee Park are one and two-bedroom flats from £134,950, and three-bedroom houses from £209,995, although these are not currently available under the FirstBuy scheme.
