Karpenissi

Guided walks specialist operator, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays is offering a 10 night holiday to Karpenissi which is ideally located at the head of the spectacular Karpenisiots Valley on the southern slopes of Mount Tymfristos. This is a beautiful and remote region dotted with traditional villages, rivers and streams, fir and chestnut forests.

From one's base in Karpenissi town, the walking programme takes one deep into the stunning countryside surrounded by mountains.  In the Spring, after the winter snow disappears from the mountains, the area comes alive with blossom and flowers enhancing the scenery even further.

One has the opportunity of exploring ancient villages like Koreshades, with its traditional stone houses and National Resistance Museum,  a wonderful folklore museum at Megalo Horio and the majestic Proussos Monastery, which is built into the mountainside.

Other highlights include the coast at Itea and the Oracle at Delphi where one stays for two nights.

Price from £899 per person includes return flights to Athens, transfers, half-board accommodation (breakfast at hotel and dinners at local tavernas) and the services of a dedicated tour leader.  Departures - 19 April, 17 May and 13 September 2013.
