Lex delivers 1,000th Messing Van conversion to Network Rail Network Rail has taken delivery of its 1,000th Messing Van conversion – a Transit van which is kitted out to make rail repair workers lives a little more comfortable.

The Messing vehicles are some of the finest equipped in the rail industry. Used as transportation for track maintenance staff, the vehicles act as mobile offices and resting places during a break in their shifts. Fourteen different versions have been developed to meet their day-to-day requirements.

The attention to detail and safety features incorporated into the 6,000 Network Rail commercial fleet lead industry standards. Safety was at the top of the agenda when developing the latest Messing vehicles with all vans featuring ‘status’ approved crash tested sub floors and seating, as well as crash tested racking systems.

The Network Rail fleet covers over 160 million miles per annum and operates around the clock, 365 days a year and plays an integral part in maintaining the UK’s rail infrastructure. Lex has supplied the vehicles on a four year/80,000 mile replacement cycle.

Jon Walden Managing Director of Lex commented: “Lex is a key supplier of light commercial vehicles to Network Rail and we have worked closely with them to meet their specific requirements regarding vehicle efficiency and cost.” He continued: “Thanks to our experienced LCV team we are one of the few leasing companies with the capability to support this type of specialised contract.”
