Somerset empty nesters and downsizers are choosing Bishops Lydeard as their new home location, according to leading house builder Taylor Wimpey Exeter. The company has reported a surge in interest from mature purchasers at its sought-after Brunswick Green development in the village.

According to research 40 per cent of home movers are looking to trade down and this is certainly the case at Brunswick Green, as Janine Copleston, regional sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, explains: “Several of our purchasers are looking to release equity in their existing properties by trading down, but they don’t want to compromise on the style, character or size of their new home – at Brunswick Green they have the best of both worlds.”

One property which is proving to be a popular choice among empty nesters and downsizers alike is the four bedroom Candleston house type. The design comprises a generous living room with French doors leading to the rear garden, contemporary kitchen with breakfast area, elegant dining room, study and cloakroom on the ground floor.

Upstairs visitors will find four spacious bedrooms, two of which benefit from en-suites, and a modern main bathroom. The Candleston is priced from £324,995 and comes complete with a garage and parking.

Janine concludes: “To help make the moving process that much simpler for those trading down, we are offering our acclaimed Easymover scheme, whereby we will market purchasers’ existing properties, pay their estate agents fees and their removal fees, enabling them to concentrate on their move into their dream new home at Brunswick Green.”

In addition to the Candleston property the development hosts a fine collection of three, four, five and six bedroom houses, with prices starting from £184,995.

The picturesque village of Bishops Lydeard is set in the heart of Somerset and offers spectacular views of the surrounding areas, making it an ideal location to raise a family. The village has many historic buildings and landmarks and is home to the West Somerset Railway with its great local links to Taunton, where trains run to London daily.

The development is just a short drive from the Quantock Hills and the town of Taunton, where shops and entertainment facilities can be found. There is a local farm shop nearby and high street supermarkets are a short distance away. Bishops Lydeard has its own primary school close by.
