Bilstein extends universal spare parts portfolio

Bilstein, the Ennepetal-based shock absorber, suspension and spring specialist, has added roughly 220 new part numbers to their Bilstein B1, Bilstein B3 and Bilstein B4 universal spare parts product lines. Bilstein added more than 70 state-of-the-art applications to its Bilstein B1 range of accessories in the latter half of 2012. At the same time, the company introduced roughly 90 additional parts numbers for the Bilstein B3, retaining its position as one of the key component makers in the field of coil springs for cars. With an extra 50 new applications also added for the Bilstein B4 range, the suspension specialist has also expanded their market coverage in the universal spare part shock absorber segment.
The Bilstein B1 programme covers a comprehensive range of OEM-quality service parts. These include accessory parts such as bearings, mounting parts, bump stops and dust tubes. To ensure an optimum fit for the components, the Bilstein engineers design the German-made parts to match the corresponding shock absorbers precisely. As a result of the high-stress levels to which the mounting parts are subjected, Bilstein recommends replacing the Bilstein B1 accessories each time the shock absorbers are replaced. This gives optimum damping power to the car and restores the car to a ‘better than new’ condition.
The Bilstein B3 springs are manufactured to OEM standards and to the precise specifications of each associated manufacturer. The coil springs for the Mercedes-Benz M-Class (W163 and W164) have been produced using the latest technical designs such as pigtail ends, mini-block form or side-load design springs. The base material (chrome vanadium or chrome silicon steel) is repeatedly hot-set after the forming process to avoid later height losses. A special shot-blasting technique is used to shot-peen the springs which then have a flexible coating of epoxy powder applied for a long and active service life.
The gas pressure technology of the Bilstein B4 universal spare part shock absorber makes a tangible improvement to driving stability and overall safety, especially in older models that have covered many miles. The shock absorber is designed to offer a longer life even when subjected to heavy-duty use. Even under load, the Bilstein B4 ensures constant damping power and improved cornering. 55 years of experience in OE manufacturing and an ongoing programme of technological development lend the Bilstein B4 its superior quality.
