Nissan streamlines auto shows for fiscal year 2009

Nissan Motor Company, Ltd has announced that it has decided to streamline the company’s participation in auto shows during fiscal year 2009, which runs from April 1, 2009, through March 31, 2010. As a result, the company has selected New York 2009, Shanghai 2009, Tokyo 2009 and Geneva 2010 as the four major international shows where the company will showcase offerings from the Nissan and Infiniti brands during the fiscal year.

The automotive industry is facing severe and prolonged headwinds throughout the world. Nissan is committed to prudent management of shareholder resources as well as to long-term success in the global market place and is reviewing marketing and communications strategies to ensure the best use of resources and maximum return on investments.

Nissan’s move to streamline participation in auto shows is a short-term action and will be subject to review and amendment based on economic conditions facing the industry as well as consumers.

During fiscal year 2009 Nissan will sponsor participation for only the four major international shows outlined above. Participation in regional and local-market shows is subject to review and approval by Nissan’s regional management.

The company will introduce nine new vehicles around the world during fiscal year 2009 by leveraging a mix of traditional methods such as auto shows as well as new and innovative strategies and tactics that will help to transform the way the company brings products to market and creates awareness, excitement and demand for the Nissan and Infiniti brands worldwide.
