For its 59th edition, the Quebec Winter Carnaval provides visitors with a unique winter experience including four new activities.

Lumocite, a spectacular mapping course worked around a winter theme will take place from February 6th - 9th from 6. 00 pm to 11 pm. The city's architectural treasures will be lit up by expert multimedia teams from Los Angeles, Budapest, Geneva and obviously Quebec. These teams will demonstrate their know how and creative ideas bringing to life, transforming or even deconstructing the Palais Montcalm, Notre Dame de Quebec Basilica Cathedral, Morrin Centre and the Fortifications of the Plains of Abraham simultaneously. As of  2014, this major project will become an international competition aimed at positioning Quebec as one  of the world's City of Lights.

Place George V, in front of the Armoury, will also take on a carnival look with the Brassee du Carnaval, presented by the Festibeire de Quebec. From February 7th to10th , from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm beer and local made drink aficionados are invited to the 1st edition of the Brassee, where Quebec microbreweries will feature in a winter atmosphere.

This year, the Carnaval mascot, Bonhomme, will get his very own statue. The 24 feet high artistic statue will be made of a collection of aluminium parts assembled to form Bonhomme Carnival's silhouette, which will transform itself before the eyes of passers by as their point of view changes. Bonhomme will be enhanced by dazzling light effects that will make this sculpture a focal point, located directly  in front of the National Assembly Parliament Buildings.

Sculpture enthusiasts will also get to admire a wide variety of sculpture throughout the streets of the Place Royal sector, as they will be part of the Carnaval. Some thirty ice sculptures by artist and sculptor Laurent Godon will be exhibited throughout the duration of the Carnaval until February 24th.

On the Plains of Abraham, Bonhommes Carnaval palatial home, will showcase a huge snow mural inspired by the 2013 guest country, Russia. Measuring 36 feet wide and 10 feet high, the sculpture will be the largest ever made at the Carnaval. Late night partying on the Plains  takes place in the dome disco, the usual ice bars, the revitalizing Arctic Village Spa, braziers and an electrifying atmosphere with the city's best DJ's taking turns to transform the Plains of Abraham into a giant dance floor every Friday and Saturday night.
