Award winning design attracts buyers to Street

Award winning design is proving a popular attraction for buyers at Barratt’s Houndwood development in Street.
The contemporary housing development in Street has been honoured with a number of awards since launch – most recently for its exterior design.
Houndwood received a Bronze Award in the best exterior design category of the What House? Awards 2012.
The £29 million scheme – a redevelopment of the former Clarks Shoes footwear depot – comprises 260 homes from one bedroom apartments to four bed houses. All feature high levels of insulation, high efficiency gas condensing boilers, local materials and sustainably sourced timber.
David Bond, Barratt Homes Bristol technical director commented: “We are delighted that Houndwood has been honoured in these prestigious national awards which recognise our commitment to outstanding design.’’
Outstanding design can be seen throughout the development including the materials used, such as local blue Lias stone. There is also a strong emphasis on shared spaces, to create a safer pedestrian and cycle-friendly environment.
Houndwood was honoured at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London where Barratt was also named Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year.
