Calibre releases new CR-III and CC-X wheel designs
The designers at Calibre Wheels are not exactly a timid bunch. Never ones to shy away from cutting-edge design, the latest masterpiece from the leading wheel house takes a look backward for its inspiration and a look forward for its finish and styling. Stand by your beds, the THREE SPOKE is making a comeback as the look for 2013.
Anyone who remembers the trend the first time round can recall just how good it can look when executed to perfection (think Brabus and Saab as two great exponents of the craft.) The CR-III balances perfectly proportioned spokes with superb pseudo split-rim detailing and a fashionable deep dish rim, complete with a gorgeous polished finish. The centre of the wheel features a subtly stepped bolt bowl and is finished in a flawless brushed silver hue, inspired by the latest surface finishes from the world of technology. With an aggressive and definitive edge to each spoke that plunges into the dish of each wheel it makes a statement that should look at home on anything from a sorted retro ride to something fresh out of the showroom.
Size wise, Calibre has pulled out the stops to include both an 8x18” and 9x18” in a generous range of PCDs that ranges from 4x100 to 5 x 100, 108, 112 and 114.3. The 9 x18” is solely reserved for the 5x112 fitments. Offsets range from 35 to 45 depending on fitment. Prices will start at £159.00 + VAT.
The CC-X is also a wonderfully retro-inspired design, but created with the very latest technology and finishing techniques. Staying true to the brand’s form of classic styling and cutting-edge production, the CC-X will work on a vast range of machinery – something evidently recognised by Calibre with a wide range of fitment and PCD options.
Finished in a brushed silver hue inspired by the latest surface textures from the world of technology, the CC-X uses the classic ‘mesh’ design, but it has been brought bang-up-to date with the careful detailing of pseudo-split-rim styling and an aggressive shouldered spoke design that not only adds visual ‘weight’ and solidity to the design, but also makes the fitting of big brakes much easier.
A flawlessly polished rim, satisfyingly deep dish and sculpted bolt bowl complete the picture and tip a hat to the classic designs of the 1980s. The options of staggered 9” and 8” x 18” however are anything but! All 5 x 108, 112, 114.3 and 120 options are available in 8”x18” with the 9”x18” reserved for the 112 and 120 fitments. Offsets range from 33 to 45, depending on application.
