Chocolate revs higher up list than horsepower

What gift to get your girlfriend or wife for Valentine’s Day, is one of the biggest decisions men face every year. Get it right, and she will love you even more, get it wrong, she will take you shoe shopping.

According to a recent poll by Motorpoint, the car supermarket with one of the largest choices of new and used cars and commercial vehicles in the UK, 67% of respondents were of the opinion that the ideal gift for her on Valentine’s Day is not a stylish sports cabriolet. This means that the traditional red roses, chocolates, and candle lit dinners are still the preferred choice this year, with horsepower clearly being relegated to the bottom of the romance wish list.

If drop-tops don’t make the heart grow fonder, there may be some room for negotiation from the large range of competitively priced models at Motorpoint’s five locations across the UK in Burnley, Derby, Glasgow, Newport (South Wales), and Peterborough. In keeping with the Valentine’s theme, customers can choose from, amongst other vehicles, a Samba Red Hyundai Coupé (available at only £11,599), a Mazda RX-8 Coupé (priced at £15,999), or a Tornado Red Volkswagen Golf GTi (costing only £17,999). However, a piece of advice: If men do decide to opt for the purchase of a car, this does not exclude them from buying the much wanted bunch of flowers or chocolates.

Commenting on the results of the survey, David Shelton, Managing Director of Motorpoint explains: “With our large choice of vehicles in stock, which is continually being updated, we are able to accommodate most customer requirements including choosing the right gift for your partner. Our highly knowledgeable staff are there to help, as we know how hard it can be to buy that perfect present. Furthermore, with the introduction of our new Boomerang finance package, it makes buying a car even more affordable.”
