Rapidly expanding food chain Bagel Nash has chosen Nottingham as its flagship location to lead its growth across the Midlands, and will open a city centre store at the end of March.

The company sells a variety of bagels and coffee through its 14 stores – most of which are located in the centres of Leeds, Manchester and York and in the East Midlands in Derby Westfield.

Bagel Nash produces bagels from scratch at its own bakery, exporting 21million bagels a year all around the world.

The new Nottingham store will open on Wheelergate in the city centre, opposite the former Virgin Megastore. It will be one of the largest branches outside of Leeds and will be the chain’s flagship store.

A VIP launch party will take place on the evening of Thursday 28 March and will include live music, local art, and the launch of the new spring menu.

“We are very excited about opening our 15th bagel and coffee shop in Nottingham,” said retail operations director Sara Hildreth.

“As a small British company, we specifically chose Nottingham because it’s such a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, full of great people who are looking for good quality, fresh and convenient food.”

Bagel Nash sells a wide variety of fillings for ten different types of bagels, prepared to order in store. Using fresh ingredients, customers can choose from a menu that offers something for everyone from Breakfast Bagels, Hot Salt Beef and Ham and Cheddar Club.

It also prides itself on the quality of its fresh coffee and the team at Bagel Nash spent years researching and perfecting the taste of their Rainforest Alliance coffee, which rivals other high street chains.

The company also offers a catering service for business lunches, and plans to hire out the upstairs of the Nottingham branch as a meeting and function space.

Bagel Nash was founded in Leeds in 1987. The current owners, Andy Mickelthwaite and Sara Hildreth, acquired the business in 2011 and plan to have a total of 45 stores in four years’ time. They are already talking of the potential for another Nottingham branch.
