Let’s talk about sex and vaginal dryness

It’s understandable that you might not want to bring it up at the dinner table, but, following a survey published on the NHS Choices website, it’s clear we need to talk about ‘vaginal dryness’. The results of the study highlight how prevalent the condition is in the UK, suggesting that 84% of menopausal women find sex painful, with vaginal dryness being cited as one of the main reasons. What’s more, nearly 70% of these women said their relationships had suffered as a result
Furthermore, it isn’t just older women who are suffering, with 17% of women aged 18-50 experiencing problems during sex, and with up to 70% of those who suffer from vaginal dryness not seeking any advice from a gynaecologist or GP it is clear women are suffering in silence…
The company, Essential Health Products Ltd, believe that a lack of product choice on the high-street is partly to blame for women suffering in silence with vaginal dryness as Graham Carr Smith, the company Director, goes on to explain: “The market place has typically been dominated by one or two major brands, who appeal to a certain demographic and sexual orientation. They also don’t offer anything for those who are more concerned about what they are using on their intimate parts and want to avoid using synthetic chemicals and parabens.”
With this in mind the company has recently launched woohoo!, the first organic lubricant to hit the high-street, launching in Boots stores (and on Boots.com) around the country.
The aim of woohoo! is to create a discreet water based lubricant that is suitable for everyone and is chemical and paraben free.
The brand looks to have achieved this, with early sales of woohoo! beating all sales targets, becoming registered organic with the Soil Association and 100% of users reporting ‘satisfaction’ – now that’s something to shout about…woohoo!!!
woohoo! promote safe sex and the lubricant can be used with condoms. The lubricant is available in Boots stores and from Boots.com at an RRP of £6.99 for a 50ml tube.
