npower launches ‘Fixed Family’ of tariffs

25th April 2013 Print

npower now has the longest and, on average, the cheapest fixed price tariffs of the big six energy suppliers for direct debit, dual fuel customers.

npower has launched two new fixed price tariffs to add to its existing "Price Fix December 15" – currently the longest fix available in the market.

npower now offers a ‘Fixed Family’ of three fixed rate tariffs, providing a short-term, medium-term and long-term option. Customers could choose to fix their energy prices until June 2014, December 2014 or December 2015.

Aiming to be number one for customer experience by 2015, this ‘Fixed Family’ has been developed by npower in response to customer feedback that they want options that offer greater budget certainty and the chance to take control of energy costs for a length of time that suits them.

The price of the three tariffs vary by their duration, allowing customers to make an informed decision as to which one is right for them.

Roger Hattam, director of npower’s domestic retail business, comments, "We have listened to our customers who have told us they want simpler and clearer tariff choices, but at the same time they want energy price certainty so they can plan and budget effectively.

"In response to this feedback, and our drive to put customers at the heart of everything we do, we have created a new family of fixed price tariffs. With this new "Fixed Family", people can decide how long to fix for, and how much they’re willing to pay, and we now have the longest and the cheapest fixes in the market of the big six energy suppliers, at average consumption, for dual fuel customers paying by direct debit.

"We firmly believe that offering a small and clearly defined range of products is the right thing to do, as the industry moves towards tariff simplification. Many people are fearful that the cost of energy is set to increase in the future – and although energy efficiency measures could help to cut costs, we can also offer customers the peace of mind that their tariffs won’t rise for as long as they fix them for."
