Average bloke thinks he’s better looking than Wayne Rooney, James Corden
The average bloke reckons he is better looking than Wayne Rooney, James Corden and Michael McIntyre, it has been revealed. The study also found that men don’t really understand the appeal of the likes of Simon Cowell, Russell Brand and Noel Fielding, believing they’re a much better catch.
And not only do British blokes believe they are more attractive than many well-groomed celebrities, the average man also thinks he’s better looking than at least five of his mates.
A spokesman for the iphone app Celebalike, which commissioned the study to find out exactly how vain men can be, said: “Confidence can definitely come across as either vanity or arrogance.
“But we think confidence is great – and these stats show that most British men are full of it.
“We would probably expect to see men such as Rooney on the list, but we are quite surprised about Russell Brand as we know a lot of women like him.
“We love to read about what men really think about themselves, especially as it’s not brought up very often, but it’s clear that becoming a celebrity doesn’t necessarily impress other men or intimidate them in the looks department.”
Rival Manchester-based footballers Phil Jones and James Milner were both voted as less attractive than the average British man – but with a surprise mention was Manchester City goalkeeper, Joe Hart.
A confident 54% of men even believe at least one of their friends’ girlfriends, wives or partners have had a soft spot for them.
Men happily admitted they check their reflection in the mirror at least five times a day – while one in four confessed they have to fight with their partner for the mirror.
The study also gave women a chance to voice their opinion, and one fifth believe their other half is better looking that the likes of David Beckham.
30% of women think their man’s looks are better than Scottish Hollywood actor, Gerard Butler.
Surprisingly, almost a quarter of blokes think they are better looking than their partner.
Celebalike is an iPhone app which measures facial contours to show users the star they resemble most, and their spokesperson continued: “This completely dashes the stereotype that women spend more time worrying about their looks than men.
“As times change, men are taking more of an interest in the way they look and want to make sure they look their best for a night out.
“Even just being told that you look like or better than a certain celebrity can boost your confidence – many should take it as a compliment.
“A male’s view of celebrity culture is stereotypically non-existent but here we can see that that’s far from the truth.
“Men have to know about celebrities to be able to tell if they are better looking.
“Now men can find out the celebrity they resemble most, but there are no guarantees the results will fit with the high opinions of themselves it’s clear many men have.”
