npower Price Fix September 2016
Commenting on the launch of Price Fix September 2016 from npower, Clare Francis, editor-in-chief at MoneySupermarket.com, commented: "Anyone looking to fix their energy tariff, and have the comfort of knowing how much they will be paying for their gas and electricity for the next three winters, could strike while the iron is hot with this new tariff from energy giant npower. Long cold winters and sky high energy bills have left many bill payers quaking at the prospect of affording their outgoings so fixing now could be the solution; a tempting proposition for many.
"At an average cost of £1,317 a year, Price Fix September 2016 is currently more than £25 cheaper than the average standard tariff - tariffs which of course may very well increase in price over the years. Not only that, but there are no termination fees attached to the this product, which means customers can easily switch elsewhere without penalty should the market unexpectedly turn and prices start falling.
"Millions of people have benefited from fixed energy deals over the last few years because prices have risen so much. However, anyone considering a fixed-price product should weigh up which option is the most suitable for them as there are a number of deals available with different length fixed terms. For example, while the npower's new tariff might protect you from price rises for three winters, it will mean most people are paying slightly more for their energy in the short term. EDF Energy's Blue+ Price Promise February 2015 tariff on the other hand only offers protection from price rises for two winters, but it is £126 a year cheaper on average than the new npower deal. What's more, if you are currently paying your provider's standard prices you will probably save money by switching to this product. Some people will prefer to save money now, while others may be happy to pay a bit more for the additional protection a longer-term fixed product gives."
