Taking place between 22 May and 02 June, the 65th Bath International Music Festival – with this year’s theme being Mystics, Magic, Myths and Monsters - combines classical, jazz, world, folk, rock and electronica at various venues all over the city.

On the first Friday of the Festival, for example, the Party in the City starts with a colourful parade, features a diverse range of music – with over 100 acts performing - and culminates with a spectacular firework display.  See the website for further event information.

For those wishing to visit the Festival, specialist boating holiday agency, Waterways Holidays suggests a city break with a difference - staying on board a narrowboat – as there are visitor moorings right in the centre of Bath giving great access to all venues.

Around seven hours cruising from the city centre is the base at the picturesque Cotswold town of Bradford on Avon, located on the scenic Kennet & Avon Canal where the company features a range of narrowboats including the well-equipped, eight-berth, 66ft ‘Braunston’ and ‘Devizes’ which are ideal for large groups or two families.

Available for short break hire – three nights at a weekend or four nights midweek – and weekly hire during the festival, prices start from £899 for three nights’ weekend hire inclusive of diesel, gas for cooking, damage waiver, bed linen, car parking and tuition on arrival, plus up to two well behaved pets are welcome free of charge.

In addition to exploring the city of Bath – a World Heritage Site with its Roman Baths & Pump Room and Royal Crescent – other attractions within easy reach of Bradford on Avon include the Claverton Pumping Station, the Caen Hill flight of 29 locks and the city of Bristol.

waterwaysholidays.com offers live availability on more than 1600 narrowboats, cruisers and sailing yachts operated by the UK’s leading boat operators and with more than 80 different start locations.  The new website also offers lots of advice on boating holidays as well as featuring listings of the latest special offers.
