L’Ancienne Poste, a luxury mountain lodge in the village of Avajan in the French Pyrenees, has cut €200 per person off the price of its activity week holidays for the months of June, July and August – including the dates that stage 9 of the Tour De France practically passes the front door on Sunday 7 July.*

The lodge is owned by ex-ski racer, Englishman James Dealtry, who lovingly turned the old village post office into luxury accommodation with his own two hands!

James is also a fully-qualified skiing and mountain-climbing instructor and there is a huge choice of things to do in the area including trekking, road cycling (the lodge is by the famous Col de Peyresourde cycling climb), mountain biking, climbing, parascending, quad biking, pony trekking, archery, waterpark, tree-top assault course, white-water rafting, golf, canyoning and gliding.

Each evening a ‘fine-dine’ 4 course meal will be served by the in-house chef with wine and beer.

The area is served by three airports (Pau/Lourdes-Tarbes/Toulouse) and can be accessed using low cost airlines.

A week’s stay any time from now until the end of August costs from just €449 per person (two sharing) on a half-board basis and includes two full-days’ guided hiking with James (€200 off the usual price).

Airport transfers available on request at a supplement.

*Guests staying at the lodge on Sunday July 7, which is when stage 9 of the Tour de France takes place, will have a unique chance to view the event. James will escort guests to a perfect vantage point for the stage (which stretches from St. Girons to Bagneres de-Biggorre) before serving up a Champagne picnic lunch.
