It's about time

We live in a world where most women juggle work, children, friends, and a busy social life - leaving them feeling like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day! A recent survey conducted by Bach Original Flower Remedies revealed that one in four spend between 10 and 20 minutes on work activities outside of work each day. This equates to roughly 2 ½ hours a week, that’s 10 hours a month that people are working overtime outside of work. It seems we could all do with some extra hours in the day or a helping hand to deal with our growing workload.
The survey delved deeper to find out what people would wish for to make their lives easier. Over half (52%) of those surveyed revealed that they would like a cleaner, which came top of the poll. With over a quarter (26%) declaring they would like someone to do their ironing, a chore nobody seems to like! This was closely followed by 22% of those surveyed admitting they would like a gardener to keep their garden looking pristine at all times. Finally almost 20% stated they would like an in-house chef to cook all their meals for them, we all know how time consuming cooking meals from scratch can be.
Now if we lived in a fairy tale where all our dreams came true and we could have our wish of a chef, gardener or cleaner then what would we do with the extra time on our hands? Almost half (47%) of those surveyed admitted they would simply put their feet up and relax! Closely followed by 44% of people declaring they would spend more time on hobbies. 42% stated they would spend more time with their partner which came out higher than people wanting to spend time with their children, at 33%. Surprisingly over a quarter (28%) said they would spend more time on their health and fitness.

It’s a simple truth we often miss – no matter how good we are at managing our time, there’ll always be more to do than we have time to do it in. Here are 3 tips to regain perspective and take control of your time:
1. Goals – be clear on your own goals and the steps you must take to make them happen.
2. Lists - As well as keeping a list of your ‘to do’s’, start a list today of your ‘won’t do’s’! We’re bombarded by
distractions, stealing away precious time we could use to accomplish our goals.
3. Time out - Make time for you every day, just to recharge. Maybe you can spare just 15 minutes – to savour
a quiet cup of tea, walk the dog, for exercise, soak in the bath perhaps. It’s still enough to feel a difference.
