Clubhouse dream edges closer to reality thanks to donation

A rugby club’s ambitious plans to raise enough money to transform its clubhouse have been boosted thanks to a £2,000 donation from leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.

Bredon Star RFC need to raise £180,000 to fund the overhaul, which will see the creation of a permanent social venue on the playing fields at the heart of the Worcestershire village.

Taylor Wimpey, which is currently building a range of new homes at The Orchards and Lavender Fields, two sought-after developments in nearby Evesham, is supporting the plans and donated the cash to help support grassroots sport.

Bredon Star RFC President Dave Newcombe, says: “We spent two years working with Bredon Parish Council to unlock an opportunity to create a permanent social home for the players in the heart of the village.

“We now have planning permission for the development and have so far raised in excess of £40,000 towards the project. We were delighted to receive such a generous donation from Taylor Wimpey and cannot thank them enough for their support.”
