A new take on ski hosting in France

With the topic of ski hosting still an ongoing legal case in France, Action Outdoors has an alternative solution for those who enjoy being shown around a ski area by a local guide. Ski hosts have for years provided a service to those that can happily get down a red run but would prefer local knowledge to seek out the best snow conditions and slopes. Knowledge is key in these vast French resorts which offer in excess of 250km of graded pistes. The guide knows where to take people without needing to refer to a map at every junction and the group aspect provides a great way to meet others of a similar ability level creating a very social holiday.

Action Outdoors offer guided weeks for the whole range of ability levels for a small fee of £14 for 12 hrs when booked alongside their all inclusive formula. The guides are all qualified ski instructors who will be able to provide suggestions on how to improve your technique but after the first day, when the ability groups are established, the intermediate and advanced groups will head off to explore the whole ski area, not just the pisted runs. The guides know the resort like the back of their hand so if the weather is closing in, relax – it isn’t your worry!

Weeks start from as little as £504 (Flaine 4 Jan. 14) and include 7 night's accommodation, full board, Grand Massif lift pass for 6.5 days, equipment hire and 12hrs guiding. Action Outdoors are the UK partners to UCPA, the French National Outdoors organisation and have 11 centres across the major ski areas such as Chamonix, Val d'Isere and Val Thorens.
