The Granville to host special charity event for cancer research

14th October 2013 Print

The Granville @ Barford is hosting a special charity event to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign on Friday 25 October as part of the national ‘Wear it Pink’ day. £2.1 million was raised last year by the campaign to fund world-class research.

Front of house staff will wear special ‘Wear it Pink’ t-shirts whilst the Chefs will wear pink aprons and all will donate £5 each. Anyone visiting The Granville on the day will be encouraged to wear something pink or go top-to-toe pink and donate £2. For the pink shy The Granville will be selling breast cancer research stickers for £2 each.

The Granville is also organising a number of activities on the day to raise money. There will be a children’s ‘best pink outfit’ competition with a £2 entry fee and a prize of 1000g of jelly beans. For adults, there will be a mini quiz, also with a £2 entry fee and a prize of a bottle of pink Prosecco. Customers will also be asked to bake some pinktastic cakes, bring them in on the day and donate the profits. For a chance to win £15 and for a £1 entry fee, customers will be asked to guess the cake The Granville choses from the selection. To continue with the pink theme, there will be a special pink cocktail, a strawberry daiquiri priced at £6 with all sales being donated to the cause.

In addition, the Chefs will be participating in Movember to help raise funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health. Lewis, Andy, Adam and Joe will be growing a moustache for the 30 days of November. As well as being able to donate online, there will be a charity box on the bar for people to donate money.

Val Kersey, Proprietor, stated “We’re thrilled to be raising money by taking part in these two great campaigns. Breast cancer is still the most common cancer and claims the lives of 12,000 women every year. Every penny we raise will make a difference for thousands of men and women. We hope as many people as possible visit us on the day, embrace pink and help raise money!”
