Luxury Clifton development proves a hit with buyers
Two-thirds of the prestigious Bracken Hill development in Leigh Woods near Clifton has now sold, regional property developer Devonshire Homes has revealed.
The exclusive gated residential redevelopment of the historic estate and former botanical gardens is a mix of eight luxury new build homes and four restored 19th century buildings. The project is the first of its kind for the developer and included the restoration of the gardens as well as the buildings.
Steve Russell, Interim Managing Director, Devonshire Homes, said: “We fully appreciated the need to retain the charm of Bracken Hill’s heritage. Sales have certainly proved that there is a demand for this type of unique historical location, and Bristol offers a very comparable cost to that of other historic cities in the region like Bath. Equally its convenient location in terms of a blend of country and town feel is attractive, while its excellent commuter links make it a viable solution for many.”
Work started last summer on the first phase of six luxury new-build properties comprising Overton Court, which was quickly followed by two further new build homes within their own walled garden. Restoration work followed with the refurbishment of three stunning mews coach houses set around a courtyard and all three were sold before work completed.
Now just the Lodge House and three properties in Overton Court remain on the market.
The historic four bedroom detached Lodge House is set within its own private garden and according to property agent Savills, is generating a huge amount of interest.
Steve Russell added: “This has been an extraordinary development that has brought life and beauty back to a jaded site. In particular, we have enjoyed seeing the gardens brought back to their former glory.”
Savills’ Richard Brooks, Director Residential, added: “This has been an exciting project for Savills to be involved in and we are delighted with the success achieved to date. Those with interest in the remaining properties should contact us now as demand continues to be high in securing a home in this unique setting.”
The showhome at Overton Court is open on Saturdays and Sundays. Viewings are available at other times by appointment through Savills of Clifton.
