Top for beginners

The high altitude French resort of La Plagne has a great snow record, ensuring beginners can get straight out onto the nursery slopes, where experienced instructors are on hand to put Brits through their paces. As newbies advance, there are plenty of steeper slopes and more challenging runs to take on, as La Plagne links to Les Arcs, creating one of the world’s largest ski areas, Paradiski. When darkness falls, La Plagne also gives way to some classic and lively apres ski.

Chalet Bartavelle (sleeps 15) in the French ski resort la Plagne 1800 and is ideally located for beginners and non-skiers as the chalet is just 50m from the pistes and nearest chairlift. Best for… Location, location, location

There are two reasons why Chalet Bouc Blanc (sleeps 8) in Plan Pesiey, Les Arcs, is widely considered as one of the top locations for skiers. The first is the chalet’s fantastic location for all levels of skier as it’s just 50m from the nearest chairlift, 150m from the local ski hire, ski school and other shops in Plan Pesiey. Guests can ski back to the chalet after a days skiing via a blue run, to eliminate the hassle of ski buses or a long trudge back. The second is the breathtaking panoramic views that Chalet Bouc Blanc has from its south and west-facing balcony towards the Vanoise National Park and Montchavin in La Plagne.  Chalet Bouc Blanc can be booked through Ski Beat from £545 per person / week, including return Gatwick flights, transfers, breakfast, afternoon tea and 3 course evening meals with wine (6 nights) and a 4-course dinner on the last evening with local cheese and port.

Top for apres ski

Val d’Isere is one of the world’s top ski resorts and for good reason; it has fabulous skiing, lively après ski, a buzzing atmosphere and great ski infrastructure, there is masses of choice for après ski and nightlife, from lunchtime until dawn, as well as a wide choice of places for eating out: from takeaway pizza to Michelin star restaurants. Ski Beat’s Chalet Cristal (sleeps 10) is in an excellent location in the old hamlet of La Daille, while the centre of Val d`Isere is just a short walk away from the chalet and for hardened party goers the local bus runs from 07.30 until 02.00 the next morning. The chalet is only 150m from the "Funival", a high speed funicular that carries skiers to the top of Bellevarde (2800m) in just a few minutes. From there skiers have a huge choice of pistes including easy access to Tignes as well as the pistes between Val d`Isere and Tignes.

A week’s stay at Chalet Cristal can be booked through Ski Beat from £634pp, based on 2 guests sharing a room, including return Gatwick flights, transfers, breakfast, afternoon tea and 3 course evening meals with wine (6 nights) and a 4-course dinner on the last evening with local cheese and port.

Top for foodies

Good food is an essential ingredient of a good ski holiday, with skiers needing to fuel up before and after a long day in the fresh mountain air. Ski Beat’s co-founder, author of cookery books and the chef behind the company’s menus, has created hearty and tasty menus once again this season. Breakfasts have been upgraded, with bacon and cooked options, there are canapés on arrival and home cooked cakes every day, and all chalets have a last night dinner with four courses and wine, in addition to five daily three course dinners, breakfasts and afternoon tea and a 4-course dinner on the last evening with local cheese and port.

Chalet Bouquetin (sleeps 10) in Plan Peisey, Les Arcs, is a great example of a chalet for foodies and socialites, with its open plan lounge and dining area, which makes the chalet ideal for large get together meals. Every room has en-suite facilities and the chalet also has two balconies.
