First-time buyers now expect to spend 14 years in their ‘starter’ home before they can take the second step on the property ladder, research from The Post Office has revealed. This doesn’t need to be the case as Bloor Homes’ part exchange scheme at The Ridings in Shillington can help get second steppers moving into a larger family home faster.

The Ridings is a superb collection of the new Bloor Homes’ ‘heritage’ range of housetypes consisting of just 20 two, three and four bedroom homes in the picturesque village of Shillington, Bedfordshire available with the part exchange scheme.

Vanessa Macnee, Sales Director of Bloor Homes South Midlands comments: “We will exchange your existing home for up to 100% of its market value, meaning you do not have to worry about finding a buyer and the whole process can be completed very quickly. All valuations and estate agent fees are taken care of as well, it really is that easy!”

The Arlington, priced from £380,000, is a wonderful double fronted detached home. On the ground floor the entrance hall, with downstairs cloakroom, leads to a separate lounge / study area with French doors opening out into the garden. The kitchen / dining room is a spacious family area, with an adjoining utility room. On the first floor, the property boasts four double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The master bedroom features an en suite and fitted wardrobes.

The first of the new ‘heritage’ range of housetypes at the development will be ready for occupation in early 2014. All properties will be finished to the high specification for which Bloor is renowned, but with new traditional exterior features such as a sheltered porch or Tudor style timber fascia. The fitted kitchens will include a range of appliances including a double oven, ceramic hob, extractor hood and integrated fridge/freezer whilst the bathrooms will feature contemporary white Roca sanitaryware with complementing chrome fittings.

Shillington has a distinct shape, being made up of five clusters of houses known as 'ends'. It is a friendly village of around 1800 inhabitants which is perfect for growing families - Shillington Lower School is located in the village and there are two Academies within three miles.

Amenities in Shillington include the village stores, a village hall, post office, garages, three pubs and two churches. The village offers an active and varied social life with clubs and societies for all ages. A year round programme of local events includes the village fete, horticultural show, fireworks and Christmas bazaar.

Shillington offers all the benefits of a village location but enjoys excellent road links, being 10 miles from the M1 and A1(M) and just a 20 minute drive from Luton Airport. Major towns such as Stevenage and Bedford are 11 miles away, whilst the shopping and leisure facilities of Milton Keynes are just over 20 miles away.

The Arlington housetype is priced from £380,000 and is available with the part exchange scheme. A range of other stunning four bedroom detached homes are available, such as the Caulke from £400,000 and the Berrington from £415,000. The marketing suite is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
