First time buyers account for the majority of people who have used a Help to Buy equity loan to purchase a property, but did you know the scheme is also open to other purchasers?

Elan Homes is keen to raise awareness about the benefits of Help to Buy among homeowners including those who are ready to make their crucial second step on the housing ladder.

The company is urging buyers to visit Parklands in Audenshaw to find out how they could use Help to Buy to purchase one of the final four-bedroom homes.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, says: “Help to Buy has undoubtedly been a success and has helped thousands of buyers across the country buy a new home for less. But while it’s designed to assist movers and first time buyers, Government figures suggest that a massive 92% of those who have benefited have been those buying their first home.

“We want to ensure that other house hunters understand what Help to Buy could mean for them and are inviting people to come along to Parklands where we will be pleased to guide them through the scheme.

“Second steppers who perhaps don’t have a lot of equity in the home they want to move from could use our Easy Move scheme to secure a buyer and then when they have sold subject to contract they will only need a 5% deposit to buy a new home from us. The equity loan will reduce the size of the mortgage they need so their monthly repayments are likely to be easier to afford.”

Four-bedroom homes at Parklands are available in a choice of styles. Prices start from £249,995 or an initial outlay of just £199,995 with Help to Buy. The equity loan for the remaining 20% is interest free for five years.

“Buying a home at Parklands now could be a shrewd investment for those planning to start a family. By cutting out a step on the housing ladder they could beat rising prices and negate the need to move as their children grow,” Marie adds.

Located on Audenshaw Road, with a primary school within walking distance, the homes at Parklands are ideally placed for families.

It’s also well suited to commuters as Manchester city centre is just a short journey away by road or rail thanks to easy access to the motorway network and a Metrolink stop in nearby Droylsden.

To find out more about Help to Buy, visit Parklands, open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm.
