As we board flights for warmer climes this summer many of us may wonder how celebrities manage to keep up their fantastic appearances after long haul flights whilst we end up looking like we’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards and haven’t slept for a week.

Whilst travelling first class may help, model David Gandy, voted one of Britain’s most stylish men, has revealed he opts for a more modest approach, rosehip oil.

David admitted to using the oil to hydrate his skin after being recommended it by an Australian make up artist after complaining about his skin becoming dry as a result of numerous long haul flights. Other celebrities like Miranda Kerr and Gwyneth Paltrow are also thought to be a devotees, with Miranda claiming it gives their skin an amazing glow.

To those in the know it’s no surprise that rosehip’s have come to many a celebrity’s rescue as the fruits are particularly rich in essential fatty acids, the building blocks for healthy skin cells and one of the foundations of the protective layers the skin forms. What’s more they are also crammed with substances called bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids are found in certain plants and known to be powerful anti-oxidants that have been shown to protect the body and skin against harmful substances called oxygen free radicals – the main culprits thought to be responsible for aging skin. However, what really puts rosehip oil in a class of its own is the fact that it contains a substance called tretinoin, a Vitamin A derivative. Tretionin was tested for its effects on skin in the US by scientists and it was found that those using it are seen to have fewer wrinkles and smoother skin tones.
