H&H Classic Auctions signs sponsorship agreement with the Vintage Sports-Car Club
H&H, Europe’s largest specialist auctioneers of classic cars, motorcycles, bicycles and related memorabilia, has signed a landmark sponsorship agreement with the Vintage Sports-Car Club (VSCC), one of the most established and significant of all UK car clubs. The multi faceted deal guarantees the auction house ongoing title sponsorship of a range of VSCC events. From hereon, all VSCC advertising material will carry the H&H logo and vice versa, while VSCC members will be entitled to 40% discount from the vendor’s commission at all H&H cars sales.
The VSCC was founded as long ago as 1934 and is primarily concerned with the preservation and competition of sports cars built pre-1931, though it also encompasses selected Post Vintage Thoroughbred sports cars (PVT’s) built prior to 1941. It is a growing and highly active organisation that currently boasts in excess of 7000 members, for whom it holds over 30 competitive events every year, as well as a range of popular social gatherings.
H&H has a fine track record with VSCC eligible cars and in the last two years alone has created the following world records:
1934 Lagonda M45 Le Mans Team Car ‘BPK 203’ - £435,000 (2005)
1931 Talbot 105 Fox & Nicholl Team Car ‘GO 54’ - £312,000 (2006)
1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS ‘UU 79’ - £503,000 (2007)
Said H&H’s Simon Hope, “Our backing will provide the VSCC with a guaranteed level of income that will, among other things, assist them in their aim to attract additional young members.
“Though the union will be very visible, we have deliberately opted not to exclude other auction houses from advertising in VSCC publications, as we believe the club’s members should have full freedom of choice.”
Said the VSCC Club Secretary Mike Stripe, “We are very comfortable with H&H’s transparent style of auctioneering and ongoing participation in, and support for, events for the pre-war car fraternity. We are delighted at the agreement between us, which we believe will be very beneficial to both parties for many years to come.”
