Alison Hammond gives the inside scoop of Strictly

10th October 2014 Print

Alison Hammond will be starring in the new season of the TV show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. Famous for her appearances on shows including ‘Big Brother’ and ‘I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!’, the energetic ‘This Morning’ presenter has recently been working as a brand ambassador for Gala Bingo, promoting their charity work for Male Cancer Awareness Charity and fronting their new, innovative TV channel. Now the popular power lady will be sweeping us off our feet by putting on her dance shoes and whirling across the ‘Strictly’ dance floor. And the whole Gala Bingo community will be keeping their fingers crossed for her.

Hammond will be dancing alongside 15 other celebrities including Simon Webbe from the band Blue, TV presenter Caroline Flack (‘I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of Here Now!’, ‘The Xtra Factor’), former Scottish international rugby player Thom Evans, Frankie Bridge from the pop band The Saturdays, and EastEnders’s Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning in the show.

It looks like Hammond will be facing quite the challenge but no test is too big for the lady with the can-do attitude. Gala Bingo has managed to catch up with their popular ambassador in a recent interview to find out a little bit more about her ‘Strictly’ secrets and how she plans on winning this contest.

Almost as important as the dance moves themselves are of course the outfits the contestants will be wearing and Alison already has a good idea of what costume she would like best.

Anything with tassels on I love as they look really good on you moving around when you’re dancing, and any costume with as many sequins and glitter on as possible, I want to look like a big sequin flashing around on the dance floor. The costumes are not shown to us until the night before so we have no idea what colour they are or what they look like until the day before the dance. All sequins are hand sown on and the costumes are worth a lot of money unfortunately we don’t get to keep them.

Alison is by no means new to the world of reality TV having starred already in shows such as ‘Big Brother’ and ‘I’m a Celebrity’, but she expects ‘Strictly’ to be full of new challenges.

It’s completely different already, I’m learning how to dance correctly instead of just bopping around, it’s all very technical and I need to be on point I can’t just style it out!

The fun-loving presenter is looking forward to getting stuck in and having fun along the way but she won’t be forgetting about the competition element either.

I’m taking it very seriously so is Aljaz my dance partner he won the show last year with Abby Clancy and he is already working me hard after 1 session. There is no messing around from 9am when we get in the studio.

Alison Hammond’s appearance on ‘Strictly’ is something to look forward to. Be it the foxtrot, rumba or waltz, we are sure the lovable, fun Alison will go out and do us all proud.
