Half of the new houses have already been sold in a part of Cheshire known by locals as ‘Little Venice’.

Persimmon Homes North West’s Moorland View development in Brushes Road, Stalybridge, offers house hunters a range of beautiful three and four bedroom homes.

The development was launched in October last year - and 33 of the 66 properties have already been snapped up.

David Hodgson, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes North West, said: “With the location of the houses, it’s not a surprise that they’ve been as popular as they have.

“There are still a few stunning three and four bedroom houses left on the site for sale. But Stalybridge is one of the most scenic towns in the area and the houses are all beautifully built and unique, so we wouldn’t expect them to be on the market for too much longer.”

David said that about half of the buyers at Moorland View had taken advantage of Help to Buy. Using the Government initiative, people buying a new build only need a five per cent deposit along with a 75 per cent mortgage, while the Government supplies a 20 per cent equity loan, which is interest and repayment free for the first five years.

Persimmon Homes also operates a Part Exchange scheme with the house builder purchasing the buyer’s old property at market value. There is also the Home Change scheme where Persimmon will agree a price and then market the customer’s old home without the new for an estate agent.

The Moorland View development is situated in the beautiful town of Stalybridge and is known locally as ‘Little Venice’ due to its idyllic location alongside the Huddersfield Canal and River Tame.

Stalybridge is one of a cluster of towns and villages in the area collectively known as Tameside that prospered during the industrial revolution due to the thriving cotton industry in the North West of England.

Today it boasts high-performing schools, a fine choice of shops, doctors, pubs and restaurants, making it and an attractive town for a wide range of people, including young families and busy professionals.
