In celebration of the release of the new ‘Paddington’ film, adapted from the classic story about a lost bear with a penchant for Marmalade sandwiches, the athenaeum hotel and apartments has released a special ‘Paddington Bear’ afternoon tea (available from 1st November until the end of December).

The athenaeum loves to welcome children (and bears!) to the hotel and they have a tradition of making great London holidays even better for children. Paddington famously kept a supply of marmalade sandwiches under his hat, but there are plenty of other ways for Paddington to get his paws sticky at the athenaeum. The Paddington tea is a great way to celebrate the family friendly nature of the athenaeum and the film release of the classic children’s story. What’s more, for every Paddington tea booked, the hotel will donate £5 to Action Medical Research whom Paddington Bear has been the official mascot for over 35 years.

The special tea menu includes all of the classical favourites; scones accompanied with the finest thick-cut English Marmalade and traditional finger sandwiches with a Paddington twist such as Marmalade Glazed Ham with Clementine Marmalade on Onion Bread. The athenaeum’s famous cake trolley has had a marmalade makeover and now includes Chocolate Tea Cups filled with Orange and White Chocolate Mousse as well as Orange Bakewell Tarts and many more delicious treats.

To celebrate the famous story the hotel will also be offering great rates on its luxurious apartments, perfect for families and furry explorers from across the globe. Paddington packages start from £468 including a Paddington afternoon tea served in the apartment and your very own furry Paddington to take home. The athenaeum is a true family friendly hotel; from the dedicated kids concierge, which has special recommendations and games for children of all ages, to milk and cookies at bedtime, nothing is too much trouble. No wonder it’s known to so many families as their home from home in the Capital.
