New rear-view mirrors give better visibility both front and rear

“With the new rear-view mirrors, we are improving the driver’s scope for operating his truck in a safe way,” says Ulf Andreasson, manager product strategy at Volvo Trucks. “We’ve repositioned the mirrors a bit further back and further out from the cab sides. The angle has been modified and the size of the mirror housing is smaller than before.”
Fewer blind spots
All told, these measures not only give the driver better visibility to the rear, but also offset to the front, mainly because of the wider gap between the A-post and mirror.
Less dirt
Volvo’s engineers have also taken the opportunity to improve the aerodynamic properties of the rear-view mirrors, so as to cut air resistance and reduce dirt accumulation.
Production start for trucks with the new type of rear-view mirror is scheduled for the second week of June.
