Feature length finale for The Fall

The Fall

The second series of highly anticipated drama The Fall recently returned to rave reviews. Written by Allan Cubitt and starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, the critically acclaimed psychological drama broke ratings records when it became BBC Two’s biggest drama series launch in eight years, for its first series in 2013.

Thrilling the audience with its tense return, the consolidated figures for the opening episode of the current series have added an extra million viewers to the overnight of 2.5 million.

Creator and director Allan Cubitt confirmed that there will be a treat in store for fans by bringing the series to a close with a feature length finale. The sixth episode will be a 90-minute special.

On the feature length special Allan Cubitt, says: “I'm grateful to the BBC for allowing me the opportunity to finish the second series with a feature length episode. It's a real vote of confidence in the show and allows me the chance to explore the issues the drama deals with in real depth.”

Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama Commissioning adds: “This series has such a wonderfully shocking conclusion that it’s only fitting viewers should be treated to a feature length finale to relish.”

The series finale will air at 9pm on BBC Two on Thursday 18 December 2014.
