Salford Student Village is shortlisted for Best Accommodation

Campus Living Villages (CLV), the global student accommodation provider, has been shortlisted in the Best Accommodation category at the 2014 British Youth Travel Awards for the University of Salford Student Village.

The British Youth Travel Awards were created to recognise the success and professionalism of organisations and individuals engaged in the UK youth, student and educational travel industry. The awards are judged by a panel of industry professionals from The British Educational Travel Association, who look for the top players in the education travel sector. CLV impressed the judges with its superior accommodation offering at Salford.

CLV takes a partnership approach to provide accommodation solutions that offer universities, and its students, a community that can enhance their student experience allowing them to live, learn and grow. As well as delivering contemporary accommodation for students at the University of Salford, CLV also offers space for various other institutions during the summer months; recently hosting a summer camp for the National Youth Theatre ahead of a performance at Media City.

The organisations shortlisted for the Best Accommodation category have all been credited for commitment to innovation and customer service. CLV prides itself on delivering uniquely tailored solutions for individuals and group bookings. Tenants can book their accommodation easily and CLV ensures that the check-in process also runs smoothly.

During the redevelopment of the site in 2012, key requirements were identified to help enhance the student experience. As a result, particular attention was paid to upgrading the communal social spaces, including an area with a pool table and SkyTV. Lounges with Xbox and Wii game consoles, an onsite gym, basketball courts, and a communal kitchen with a demonstration area were also included. Group study spaces and a personal study space within each student’s room were installed throughout the site to support students in their academic pursuits.

Dedicated to maintaining a high level of quality across all sites, CLV has a Business Improvement Team, which manages a rolling annual audit programme that includes ‘Mystery Shopping’ exercises and staff staying overnight on-site.

Franziska Haas, CLV Business Development Manager said: “This is the first year that the University of Salford Student Village has been entered for this award and we are thrilled to be shortlisted. Student accommodation plays such an important role in British Youth Travel, not just for the summer, but also for young people’s educational development throughout the whole year. CLV is also proud to be able to provide quality accommodation for larger bodies including The Challenge Network, the National Youth Theatre, local language schools such as Learn Business English and A2Z, and Salford students undertaking summer courses. We are very excited to be finalists for Best Accommodation; especially as a global student accommodation provider, this is a great achievement for us.”

CLV now awaits the decision on who will take the crown on Thursday 4th December at Westfield London.
