Manchester Tippers take delivery of their 1st batch of Volvo FM trucks Manchester Tippers, based in Salford, Manchester, have taken delivery of their first batch of Volvo FM trucks, which is part of a 30 vehicle deal with Thomas Hardie Commercials in Trafford Park.

After operating other marques over the past 10 years, the family-owned business has decided to try Volvo. Director Mike Walsh commented, “We had been in the market for a new tipper for some time, looking for a reliable truck which could perform well under pressure.” He added that, “Volvo has an exceptional reputation for being reliable and was therefore chosen to increase Manchester Tippers fleet.”

Mikes’ choices were all Volvo FM, 400bhp 8x4 tippers, plated for 32 tonne GCW and specified with a Day cab in ‘Fleet’ trim.

Another consideration which prompted their decision to include Volvo trucks as part of their excavation and demolition fleet was residual value. As Mike explained, “Operating a ‘3-year policy’ on all our vehicles means that residual value is extremely important to us.”

Purchased from Area Sales Manager, David Irving, Mike stated that, “Thomas Hardie have a strong reputation and are ideally located to us,” adding, “We hope to build a long-term relationship with them.”

The vehicles will be based at the company’s headquarters in Salford. They can be seen across the Northwest as they assist with the company’s main services of Bulk Excavation, Demolition and Aggregate Recycling.
