Thomas Harwood celebrates 75 years with new Volvo truck

Thomas Harwood and Sons celebrate 75 years in the haulage business with the purchase of a new Volvo FH. Lancashire-based, Thomas Harwood and Sons are celebrating 75 years in the haulage industry and to mark the occasion the family company have purchased a Volvo FH truck to add to their predominantly Volvo fleet.

As a family owned and operated company Thomas Harwood and Sons have grown to become one of the largest general hauliers in Bolton. The company have had continued success over the years and have remained competitive in difficult times.

As Managing Director, Mark Harwood explained, “We put the company’s success down to providing high standards and having traditional values.”

The company have been purchasing Volvo trucks from Thomas Hardie Commercials for over 20 years.

As Mark explained, “It has always been the firm’s policy to purchase top quality vehicles,” adding that, “Volvo is my preferred marque. We purchased our first Volvo from Thomas Hardie Commercials and have been buying from them ever since.”

The company’s recent purchase of the Volvo FH 6x2 tractor unit has been specified with a Globetrotter XL cab in ‘Prestige’ trim and fitted with I-shift automated gearbox, for its high payload. It takes their Volvo tally to 12 vehicles in this, their 75th anniversary year.

Area Sales Manager at Thomas Hardie Commercials, David Irving said, “I would like to congratulate Thomas Harwood on their last 75 years of business and wish them continued success into the future.”
