100th Volvo Truck goes into service with Ed Weetman Haulage Ed Weetman (Haulage and Storage) Ltd. based in Great Haywood, near Stafford has taken delivery of a top of the range Euro 5 Volvo FH-480 4x2 tractor - the 100th Volvo truck to go into service with the fleet.

Owner of the business, Mr. Ed Weetman commenting on this significant milestone said.” We find Volvo’s are very reliable and we have an excellent relationship with Hartshorne’s built up over the last 20 years. Service and aftersales support are very important and we get good support from Volvo Dealers throughout the UK. The best features of the trucks are their levels of comfort; they offer more room for the driver and have a great appearance to match. It’s a vehicle that anyone would say looks smart.”

Purchased from Volvo Dealer Hartshorne Motor Services of Stoke-on-Trent, the 44 tonne GCW, Globetrotter-cabbed 6x2 tractor unit is the first Euro 5 Volvo into the Weetman fleet. The truck, which will cover around 120,000 kilometres a year, is on a full Repair and Maintenance package. This covers both tractor and bulk trailer and is managed by Hartshorne’s local satellite dealer near Stafford.

One of the company’s longest serving drivers will be driving the truck. Ed added, “The driver we’re putting on it is Volvo through and through. We’ll keep him on the truck and he will look after it. We like to look after our drivers with top spec. vehicles.”

The truck is paired with a new United tri-axle bulk tipping trailer and will be transporting sugar beet, grain and salt. The latter commodity is hauled under a contract with the Winsford, Cheshire-based Salt Union and is delivered to County Council depots throughout the UK.
