The newly-formed ‘environmentally aware’ business, which supplies ready-mixed concrete, mortar and floor screed across Wales and the Northwest of England, aims to become the most environmentally conscious ready-mix company in the UK.

For this reason they specified the 26 tonne GCW Euro 4-compliant Volvo FE with 320 bhp, 9 speed gearbox and cruise control.

“Along with a passion for preserving the environment”, explained Managing Director, Gary Billington, “Evolving requirements of the construction industry, coupled with the growing environmental pressures for companies to use recycled materials and reduce the carbon footprint, has inspired the concept of our business.“

He added, “There are a number of reasons why we are different to others in the industry, including the use of 90% recycled products in our aggregate, mortar tubs made from 100% recycled material and there are even plans for a windmill farm to be erected on site to help contribute to the company’s electricity source.”

There has also been careful consideration in the purchase of company vehicles. As Gary stated, "We want the most environmentally-friendly company vehicles that we can operate. Our company cars are all 'Hybrids' and we have decided to choose Volvo for our trucks due to their Euro 4-compliance, SCR technology, and the fact that 'care for the environment' is one of their core values."

The vehicle was purchased from Area Sales Manager, Tony Hughes at Thomas Hardie Commercials in Deeside, where the vehicle will also be serviced and maintained.
